Today is Canada Day, the day in which we celebrate the country that we are fortunate to call home.
Some are taking time today to reflect on the tragic discoveries at Residential Schools over the past few weeks and are considering ways that we can improve our country.
Others are taking time to reflect on the things that make us unique: our diversity, our beautiful landscape, our stability, and our relative security in an often dangerous world – to name just a few.
In my opinion, there is no right or wrong way to celebrate today. Canada means something different to each of us and we all have different hopes, dreams, and aspirations for our country.
For me, while I know there is work yet to be done, I celebrate the fact that I am blessed to live in one of the most free, tolerant, peaceful, and prosperous countries in the world. And I get up every day committed to ensuring that these opportunities expand, grow, and improve for all future generations yet to come.
As I look around the globe, I cherish each of these things and I know that I wouldn’t want to call anywhere else but Canada “home”.
Happy Canada Day everyone!
